Overview
The Steel Legionnaires (Working Title) is a fantasy/military fiction story about five soldiers and their service to their empire, The Steel Kingdom. I have started writing this story from last year (Late 2024), and ever since I have worked on it on and off. Draft 1 has been finished at 23k words, but I wanted to change the story to reflect the changes in the world setting itself (See the other categories of this wiki).
Draft 2 was started on 17th of July 2025.
The planned final word count for this draft is 65k~ (just over 250 pages), containing three short stories + a subplot:
- The Beast of Chrestyk Manor (15k~)
- The Siege of Ortkoverny (15k~)
- The Battle in the Isles (25k~)
- Interludes (10k~)
Plot Description
An ancient book has been found. It’s pages thin and light, yet strong and resistant to wear and tear. The cover is made of unidentifiable leather, and the one who found the book suspects they do not want to know.
It opens, ‘To whom it may concern…’
In it is a tale of friendship and honor. Of betrayal and war. But most of all, of a young soldier. A soldier who was from a new nation, founded by criminals and people deemed undesirable, whose loyalty to the all powerful Steel King wanes more than any other.
It chronicles his rise as part of the Steel Kingdoms elite task force, the Steel Legionnaires, and his fall as the world falls to chaos around him. With a team of competent Legionnaires, nothing is impossible. Read of how this soldier fought with his team to accomplish tasks no one else could do. Read of how he builds camaraderie with his comrades-in-arms. Read of the loss he experienced. Read of his ultimate betrayal.
